The first meeting of the Parish Profile Committee was held at 9:15 AM. The committee represents an excellent cross-section of the congregation. The committee will be comparing schedules with Bishop Price to find a mutually convenient time to meet with him to receive guidance as to the procedures, processes and product that will result from committee activity.

The Vestry met with Bishop Kenneth Price, Jr. to become informed about the search process St. Alban’s will use to call a new rector. In some ways it is similar to the search process of five years ago, and in some ways it is different. The Vestry has begun to take the first step in the process by calling on members of St. Alban’s to become participants in the Parish Profile Committee.

The Parish Profile Committee is charged with gathering data to create a Congregational Self-Study and Ministry Assessment. They will conduct focus groups comprised of all members of the St. Alban’s congregation to arrive at an understanding of the values and ministries of the congregation. Finally, they will utilize all the collected input to produce a Parish Profile. This document is essential for a successful search process, as it will provide the Calling Committee, the Vestry and the Bishop with criteria for the search.

The Profile Committee does not need to be large, four to six members, but it does need to include people with skills in data gathering and assessment, written communication skills, artistic design or layout skills, and the members should have a good understanding of what has been the history and ministry of the congregation. It is the goal of the Vestry to have the finished Parish Profile by Spring.

If you are willing to be a participant in this crucial first step in the search process, please fill out the form available at the church, and return it to the church office. If you have any questions, please fee free to contact a Warden or member of the Vestry.
